Why a Hose Reel System?
- The floor stays clear. The hose does not lie on the floor; it is not crushed under vehicle wheels and nobody trips over it.
- The hose lasts longer. Because it stays wound up when not in use, wear and tearing are reduced.
- Each workstation is independent. The technician uses their own hose reel only when needed.
- The workshop looks orderly. It supports the tidy appearance expected under authorised dealer service centre standards.
Hose Reel Options
Spring-return hose reel: The hose is pulled down by hand and held at the desired length by a latch mechanism; when the latch is released, the spring rewinds the hose. No electrical connection is required.
Motorised hose reel: The hose is lowered and retracted with a button or remote control. It makes use easier in workshops with high ceilings and with long, heavy hoses.
Mounting Options
Hose reels can be mounted on the ceiling, on walls or on columns. When determining the position, we make sure they do not interfere with the lift arms, door openings or other installations such as overhead cranes or lighting. The hose reels can be connected to a single fan via a common duct, or a separate fan can be used for each workstation.
The Right Mounting Height
The hose reel is mounted at a height at which the hose can easily reach the exhaust pipe both when the vehicle is on the ground and when the vehicle lift is at its highest position. Mounting too low creates a risk of collision at doors and vehicle entrances; mounting too high makes the hose unnecessarily long. We establish this balance during the site survey according to the lift type and ceiling height.
Ease of Maintenance
The hose reels are designed so that maintenance can be carried out by opening the front cover. Spring adjustment, locking gear and hose replacement can be done in the workshop without dismantling the system. This means that maintenance on one station does not affect the operation of the others.
Frequently Asked Questions
What hose length does a hose reel need?
It is calculated from the mounting height of the hose reel, the lifting height of the vehicle lift and the position of the tailpipe. The hose must reach comfortably both when the vehicle is on the ground and when it is on the lift.
Spring-return or motorised hose reel?
In car service centres with standard ceiling heights, a spring-return hose reel meets most needs. If the ceiling is high, the hose diameter is large or the reel is used very frequently, a motorised hose reel is preferred.
Do you maintain our existing hose reels?
Yes. We carry out maintenance and repair of hose reels, including replacement of springs, latch mechanisms, hoses and nozzles.
Can two vehicles be connected to one hose reel?
A Y-nozzle can be used for twin exhausts. For two separate vehicles, however, we recommend installing a separate hose reel at each station; otherwise hoses end up trailing across the working area.
